Making an audio presentation for class

Hi, y'all,

I'm trying to make an audio presentation for one of my classes but can't seem to figure out the software. I've looked at Garageband and Audacity and in both cases I'm overwhelmed by the number of options, I don't understand the interface and I can't make it do the simple things I want to do. These simple things are:
1. Make recordings of my voice, most likely in MP3 format.
2. Glue files together. For example, I have a 15-second or so intro that I'd like to stick at the beginning before my voice is heard.
3. Cut files. That intro clip is probably more like 25 seconds long and I'd like to be able to trim off the last 10 seconds.

I can use Mac or Windows - whatever works. Thanks.

To answer one question, if you want to create an mp3 with Audacity, once you've finished recording, arrow down the File menu, and select Export. It should let you save as mp3.

And this is very basic, I'm not sure how much you already know, but pressing R starts recording, P pauses and restarts recording, Space stops recording, and Space plays the recording.

Beyond that, I can't offer help. I'd appreciate explanations on how to edit files, as well! How do you select a portion of the recorind and delete it, or add in a new part?

You could use something like GoldWave or Sound Forge to do your editing. Is this something you'll need to do a lot of? If not, I could put it together for you as I have Sound Forge.
Unless part of your grade is putting it together too, in which case I may be bard from helping you with that sort of thing.

When I did this, I recorded the tracks into sections, and then had someone who was tech sabby to help me put it all together.

I know that wasn't very helpful, but still.

Which I'd be willing to do.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I used audacity. It was much more simple than GoldWave.

Trying to use Audacity at the moment but haven't yet figured out how to trim/copy and paste. I can't really just send off all my recordings to be edited by one of you; it would take too long and I'm pretty sure it's against the rules.

This link should help you.
I don't use it myself. I'm still willing to edit/help with this stuff if you need it. Just PM me.
Meanwhile this should help you with anything you might need.
